Celebrate National Puppy Day at One of Charleston's Dog Parks

Cavapoo puppy. (Cross between Cavalier King Ch...

Happy National Puppy Day!

Did you know that National Puppy Day is today, March 23, 2011? Celebrate this fun holiday with your furry friend by visiting one of the dog parks in and around Charleston! These dog parks offer a variety of awesome features that both you and your pets will love: drinking fountains for dogs and their owners, gated entrances and exits, bag stations and collection cans, and water hoses for cooling (and cleaning) off.

The best part about each of these dog parks is that they are leash-free, so you can let your furry companion roam free, play with other dogs, and just enjoy the fresh air without wearing a leash! And while your pet is getting some much-needed exercise and burning off excess energy, you can get in a good workout, too! Take your pet out to spend a fun-filled afternoon at one of these great dog parks in the Charleston area:

•    James Island County Park – 871 Riverland Drive in Charleston, phone: 843-795-7275 – (This dog park has something the other parks don’t have: lake access for dogs!)
•    Wannamaker County Park – 8888 University Boulevard in North Charleston, phone: 843-572-7275
•    Palmetto Islands County Park – 444 Needlerush Parkway in Mount Pleasant, phone: 843-884-0832

If you and your four-legged friend decide to visit one of these parks, make sure you review the rules before you go. It is important that all visitors to Charleston’s dog parks are able to enjoy the parks and stay safe while respecting fellow dog park visitors and remembering to be courteous to the wildlife inhabiting these parks!

Happy National Puppy Day, residents!
