The Guided Bull's Island Auto Tour

For those who enjoy getting out into nature but cannot hike long distances or those who would like to see more of Bull’s Island, travelling in a vehicle may be the answer.  Enjoy the cultural and natural histories of Cape Romain’s Bull’s Island and discover the close interconnections of the human history with the natural landscape. 

The Coastal Expeditions ferry will leave at 9am from the Garris Landing pier.  Arrive and check in 15 minutes prior to departure.  Dress for the weather, bring a lunch, drink, camera, and binoculars.

Tickets:  $30 adults / $15 children.  Reservations are required by calling Sewee Visitor and Environmental Education Center at 928.3368.

5th Annual Women's Heart Health Symposium

Women’s Heart Care at the MUSC Heart and Vascular Center hosts this event which is designed to educate women about risk factors, warning signs, prevention of women’s heart disease.  The symposium features expert advice on heart disease in women, nutrition, exercise, and stress reduction.

Admission:  $10 cash or check.  Health screening available for a limited number of attendees for an additional $10.

East Coast Canoe and Kayak Festival

Immerse yourself in a full weekend of the history, technique, hands-on experience, and fun of canoeing and kayaking. The East Coast Canoe & Kayak Festival includes lectures, on-water classes, and demonstrations directed to the novice and the experienced paddler.

The heart of the festival is 4 classrooms run simultaneously throughout the 3-day event. Refine your skills in a master class presented by many of the leading experts in the paddling world. Learn new strokes, rescues, or rolls with expert instruction . Meet other knowledgeable paddle sport enthusiasts.

Dozens of commercial exhibitors will be on-hand to give you a chance to try before you buy. You will be able to test boats, paddles, and accessories on the water at the festival site. You will also have the opportunity to speak with equipment designers and manufacturers throughout the weekend.

Customer Appreciation Day at Charleston County Parks

 Come enjoy all the play with none of the pay as Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission offers FREE gate admission to Ravenel Caw Caw Interpretive Center, North Charleston Wannamaker, Mount Pleasant Palmetto Islands and James Island County Parks.

FREE parking offered at Kiawah Beachwalker Park, Folly Beach and Isle of Palms County Parks, as well as the Folly Beach Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier, where fishing is free for the day. Mount Pleasant Pier also will offer complimentary fishing, but parking fees still apply.

Family Circle Cup

Every spring, the Family Circle Tennis Center serves as a backdrop to one of the richest and most traditional events in women’s professional tennis.  Over 90 players of WTA compete for a piece of the $721,000 purse at the Family Circle Cup each year. 

This WTA Tour Premier Event has a roster of past champions that include some of the biggest names in the history of women’s tennis including Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Tracy Austin, Steffi Graf, Gabriela Sabatini, Martina Hingis, Jennifer Capriati, Venus Williams, Justine Henin, and Serena Williams.
